Instruction

🚴 This 14 days adventuring holiday takes in the best of 3 of Indochina’s most exciting countries (without Laos and Myanmar). Setting-off this bicycle tour from Bangkok, you’ll stop at Thailand’s idyllic beaches, see the astonishing pagoda of Cambodia and discover the Mekong Delta in Vietnam by bike and boat, taking in floating markets and traditional countryside villages as you ride towards Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

🚴 This Indochina biking trip will be joined in a small group size (min: 2 - max: 15 people) and there will be an experienced English-speaking local guide who will really help you make the most of this tour. Suitable for regular cyclists, the longest day of this tour is 75km and the terrain is mostly flat, with a few hills in Thailand and rough tracks along the way between Cambodia and Mekong Delta Vietnam. The comfortable air-conditioned support vehicle is almost always on hand if you need a break along the parallel mainroad with your cycling backroads with our local expert guiding team. Experience the heart of this region, with numerous cultural and historical sites including Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh and Khao Yai National Park. Try distinctive cuisines with fresh seafood, vegetables and more, and experience the variation between local villagers and the energy of Asia’s vibrant cities.

🚴 As an optional pre-tour extension, why not arrive early to spend two extra nights in Bangkok. Taking an exhilarating guided ride through the night markets and temples on day one, then a tour of the backstreets and waterways by canal boat and bike on day two. On the third morning, you'll be collected from your 4* city center hotel to join the biking loops to the urban Kanchanaburi which is famous for Khao Yai National Park and natural waterfall Haew Narok.

🚴 On the last day of this trip, you will have a farewell dinner on the Saigon River Cruise in Ho Chi Minh City. And you are able to explore the splendid Saigon Post Tour at Independent Palace, Book Street, Notre Dame Cathedral, and amazing Cu Chi Tunnels, etc...

💢 DAY 1: WELCOME TO THAILAND - BANGKOK ON ARRIVAL

Arrive Bangkok and check-in to the hotel. The rest of the day is free.

"You may choose to take an optional cruise along the city's Klongs (canals) in a traditional longtail boat - an ideal way to explore Bangkok's network of backwaters that branch off from the Chao Phraya River. The excursion will also include visits to Wat Arun, the Royal Barge Museum and the Temple of the Dawn, built to represent the towering slopes of Mount Meru - the Khmer's mythical home of the Gods".

💢 DAY 2: BANGKOK IMPRESSIVE CYCLING

From busy downtown Bangkok we take a short hop across the Chao Phraya River to an extraordinary place known to locals as Bang Kra Jao. Crossing the river is like taking a journey back in time where we find a peaceful place with a maze of waterways, small villages, temples and real tropical jungle. If it wasn't for Bangkok's skyline, you would never believe you were so close to the city and there is no traffic! We ride through the local communities, temples and schools stopping for a snack at a river pier across from Thailand's naval academy. Next we visit a fascinating temple, built in the Ayutthaya period more than 250 years ago with a unique teak wood roof, windows and shutters painted in the ancient Mon style. We cycle on to the relaxing Sri Narkon Park and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel for some downtime. Later this afternoon we see another side to Bangkok on our night ride, visiting a night market, the flower market and stopping for dinner along the way. Our total cycling distance today is approximately 30-40 kilometers (flat).

We then cycle to Haew Narok waterfall with three cascades and cool mountain waters that provide a refreshing swim break from the tropical heat depending on the season. At the base of the falls are a few rustic restaurants where you can get some great authentic Thai food and a cool beer. We recommend you try the somtam (spicy papaya salad) with grilled chicken and sticky rice. We then have a short drive to our hotel for the night. After our boat trip we enjoy a home hosted lunch where we can ask questions and learn about local cuisine as well as everyday life. In the afternoon we take our bus to visit Banteay Srey, where we collect our bikes again and cycle 25 kilometers to either East Mebon to enjoy watching the sunset, before either cycling or driving back to Siem Reap. From the dock, we take an excursion by local ferry along the Mekong River to Koh Dach Island where we visit a traditional Khmer weaving village.
